Needs

Over the past 30 years God has placed a tremendous burden on missions mobilization and Christian education organizations to develop courses, organize classes, train students, serve coordinators, and administer finances. This has resulted in over 80,000 students who have taken the Perspectives on the World Christian Movement course and the development of several other courses that use a similar multi-media format (text articles, study guide, live instructors, enrichment activities, graded homework/exams, audio recordings, and instructor-dependent handouts) in a coordinated classroom learning environment.

There is a tremendous need to offer these courses in many different languages delivered all over the world. The World Wide Web can be a powerful tool in developing, delivering and administrating instructor-led and online multi-media courses with such tools as journals, wikis, forums, and on-line classroom management.

Solutions

Lampstand Learning Systems (Lampstand) provides  a complete, one-stop outsourcing solution to the complex set of web hardware, software, maintenance, administration, customization, security, training and support to efficiently support a web-based learning environment for the missions mobilization and education community.

 The system uses Moodle, a free, open source course management system for on-line learning currently in use in over 36,000 university sites. The Lampstand software program provides a “shopping cart” for online class registration, an administrative package that enables coordinators to print rosters, attendance sheets, mailing lists, and badges, and a financial package that enables coordinators to manage online registration, manual registration, checks, donations and receipts.

Financial transactions are conducted using the secure Paypal system (accepts most credit cards online) and can be exported to Quickbooks for financial reconciliation. The program is constructed so that there is a clear audit trail to make it easier for organizations that want to achieve EFCA certification. The system is easy to use for students, graders, coordinators, and administrators and easy to train remotely.  

Lampstand has established course development standards that enable courses to be easily developed, distributed, delivered, and administered. The system is designed to be affordable, reliable, secure and effective.
